Here are the steps on how to apply for study in Canada from India
- First, research the universities, then pick the courses in which you have an interest and fit with your academic score. Verify the necessary requirements, tuition rates, and application deadlines. The websites of the universities contain these details. Check the entrance requirements for the colleges and courses you are interested in once you decide. Academic documents, language tests, school test results, essays, and letters of recommendation are among the documents that must be submitted.
- Evaluate your language skills: You will need to pass a language proficiency test like the IELTS or TOEFL to prove that you are fluent in English and that you are eligible to understand your professors in Canada. Scores on exams like the GRE, GMAT, or SAT may be required when I take the IELTS test, for which I will pay INR 14,500 and the price changes with time. Mainly IELTS test fulfils all the Universities and Colleges’ requirements.

Once you have completed the necessary tests and met the entrance standards, you can begin applying to universities. All the universities and colleges had application fees, as I paid $150(8,200 approximately) at Yorkville University and $100(INR 5500 approximately) at Conestoga College in 2021. If accepted to a Canadian university, you must apply for a study permit to enter Canada. A study permit application cost CAD 150(INR 8,200 approximately) in 2021. Also, you could have to pay for biometrics and medical.
3. Prepare for living expenses: You’ll need to budget for living costs in addition to tuition, such as lodging, food, transportation, and other costs. The cost of living in Canada depends on the city and your lifestyle. Now I am living in Kitchener, Ontario and paying $700(INR 42,000 approximately) for a private room, and the price is less if you are living in sharing a room with another person. My grocery expenses are around $350(INR 21,000 approximately). Moreover, my tuition fees are around $19000(INR 1,140,000 approximately)
4. Depending on the university, college, and course you select, as my overall cost of studying in Canada range from CAD 35000 to 50,000 per year (about INR 2,100,000 to INR 3,000,000).
